Hotels, suites, spas, rooftop bars and the details that turn a room into an experience.
ABOUT EASTOKYO
Eastokyo is an independent travel and culture magazine about the very best of Tokyo—where to stay, what to eat, what to see and where to be.
Created in Tokyo. Covering the whole city.
OUR POINT OF VIEW
The city does not need another generic list of attractions. Eastokyo exists to edit Tokyo properly: exceptional hotels, memorable dining rooms, independent shops, art, design, nightlife and neighborhoods with a reason to return.
We care about atmosphere as much as information. Every recommendation should help a reader make a better decision while showing what makes a place feel unmistakably of this city.
WHAT WE COVER
Hotels, suites, spas, rooftop bars and the details that turn a room into an experience.
Restaurants, counters, cafés and bars with personality, precision and a reason to make the journey.
Art, design, architecture, shopping and neighborhoods that reveal a richer version of Tokyo.
Cocktails, listening rooms, late dinners and the electric city that appears after sunset.

HOW WE WORK
Eastokyo features places because they are worth a reader’s time. Editorial stories, hosted experiences and paid partnerships are identified clearly. Commercial support never pretends to be independent reporting.
Our stories are concise by design. We would rather publish one useful, beautifully photographed recommendation than a long article padded with things nobody needs to read.

The first issue introduces Eastokyo through a compact collection of stories spanning a hotel, a restaurant or bar, a neighborhood, art and design, nightlife, a Tokyo itinerary and one person shaping the city.
Eastokyo is founded, written and photographed by James Simmons in Tokyo, with future contributions from people who know the city intimately.
